Barcode types reference for Aident CashPro

Barcode types determine how CashPro interprets scanned input.

What barcode setup affects

Barcode setup works together with:

  • Barcode Prefix Length in Global CashPro Setup
  • barcode prefixes
  • barcode length rules
  • whether a prefix is included in the resulting scanned number

When a barcode is scanned, CashPro first tries to identify a matching prefix. If no matching prefix is found, it can fall back to a rule based on barcode length.

Barcode categories used in scanning

The current implementation uses barcode types such as:

  • Item Barcode
  • Item No.
  • Serial Number
  • Lot Number
  • Resource
  • Customer
  • Salesperson

These barcode types determine which POS action is triggered.

Prefix handling

If a barcode type is configured with a prefix, CashPro checks whether:

  • the prefix identifies the barcode type
  • the prefix should remain part of the scanned result, or
  • the prefix should be removed before further processing

Length-based fallback

If no matching prefix is found, CashPro can identify the barcode type using the configured number of digits.

If no allowed type can be found, CashPro shows an error.

Practical guidance

Review barcode setup carefully when you use scanning for:

  • items
  • customers
  • salespeople
  • serial numbers
  • lot numbers
  • resources

A small mismatch in prefix length or barcode length can prevent the scan from being recognized correctly.
